You might plan to stay in your new home for just three to five years, or maybe this is where you plan to retire. Let's talk about what this next step in life looks like for you, and how your new home can accommodate you.
Choosing a home based on your life aspirations or goals that you hope to achieve one day is not a bad thing. But we need to make sure it's in line with current and realistic solutions. For example, if you've always dreamed of owning in a lakefront home, but your budget does not match your vision board yet, perhaps a home that needs a little updating is a good compromise for you to make it your own.
There are a variety of resources for you to research your potential new community. I am certainly one of them! But, calling the local schools, or police and fire to ask specific questions might be beneficial to you if you are looking at an area that you have not spent much time in or are unfamiliar with.
It’s helpful to drive through specific neighborhoods that you are interested in at different times of day, on different days of the week. Check out the local parks, shopping and restaurants for yourself and see if it feels like a good fit for your hobbies and interests.
